Myriah S. Downs
Myriah S. Downs is an associate attorney at DeWitt, Paruolo & Meek. Myriah’s practice includes civil litigation, insurance defense, civil rights, personal injury, and wrongful death.
Myriah has diverse experience representing companies and individuals. Myriah’s practice involves all aspects of civil litigation, including presenting oral arguments in state and federal courts. She has significant experience drafting dispositive motions, conducting depositions, and successfully litigating cases.
Myriah received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law. While in law school, Myriah was a member senior staff of the Energy Law Journal, was selected as a member as the Order of the Barristers for her participation in the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition and the Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition. Myriah was also elected as the Rocky Mountain Regional Chair for the National Black Law Students Association. Myriah earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Communication Studies from Arkansas State University.
Myriah was honored as part of the inaugural Hot 100 List by Lawyers of Color and as a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy. She is a member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma Association of Black Lawyers, and the Oklahoma Bar Association Women in Law and Diversity Committees. Myriah was also the first civilian recipient of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Chief’s Special Recognition Award.
Prior to joining DeWitt, Paruolo & Meek, Myriah represented clients in insurance coverage disputes, vaccine injuries, premise liability, and workers compensation cases. Myriah also represented the State of Oklahoma in economic development matters concerning ad valorem taxes, SALT incentives, and federal regulatory compliance under the Freedom of Information Act and the Oklahoma Open Records Act.
Myriah is admitted to practice law in the State of Oklahoma, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts of Oklahoma, and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
